I am Paisley [Love Potter] Janvary-Pool and I have lived all my 82 years in Niagara Falls. This is my city which I love and work for. I grew up on Bridge Street and attended local schools where I began my volunteering. I married and raised 5 children in Stamford Centre. I love committee work and sat on Girls soccer, Boys and Girls Club, Lioness, Recreation Commission, Hospital Auxiliary, Church Board and Explorers during this time especially working with children. In the 80’s I was a city Alderman for 20 years and served on many council committees. I continue to sit on and chair the Sports Wall of Fame, the Recreation Committee, Mayor’s Accessibility Advisory Committee and sit on the Canada Day committee, Park in the City and the 150 planning committee. I also serve on Project Share Board and Church committees.
What is your role in the city?
I will continue to be a volunteer as long as possible and encourage others to volunteer too. There is great satisfaction in giving of oneself to help others and Volunteers are so needed everywhere.
What is your wish for the city?
I wish the city to continue to grow but to always maintain the small town feeling. Also, I wish the city will complete the Millennium Trail, which started in 2000.
